Welcome to the NV:MP Help Guide. This post is to be used as a reference to get NV:MP set up and running properly.
This guide will also include information such as user commands that are available to the public.

    NV-MP also has a Discord

    1.0 Installation: Installing NV-MP
    InstallationWizard.jpg

Alternative Help Guides to Consider for Installation:

First step is to Download the Installer from the download page found at the top of site.

    Requirements:
    (pulled from the download page)

    - A valid player forum account to log into the launcher
    - A valid Steam account with Fallout: New Vegas purchased and installed
    - An internet connection during installation and usage of the launcher
    - .NET Framework 4.5.2 or higher (https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=42643)
    - OS: Either Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1 or Windows 10

The Installation Wizard will confirm that you are using a Legit Steam copy of Fallout NV. (green OK text == legit copy)
    InstallationWizard_Circled.jpg

After hitting Accept & Install you will start your download.

    InstallationDownload.jpg
After the download has completed the NV:MP Client should automatically pop-up.
(if you accidentally closed it and can't find the Client.exe scroll to 1.1 Installation: Problems and Fixes to see where it's located.)

    NVMP_Client.jpg

It's now time to sign-in using your forum account's credentials. (You need a forum account to play)

    NVMP_Client_Login.jpg

After signing in click on a server and then hit Join.

    NVMP_Client_JoinServer.jpg

Fallout New Vegas should now load up. You don't need to do anything it will automatically bypass the starting screen after a while and put you into the game/server.

    1.1 Installation: Problems and Fixes
This section will contain problems and fixes to help get NV:MP running properly.
I will need help from the community with this section.
-Please post any problems that you have run into and the fix that worked along side of it.

Before we get into the part of the section please note that most mods will not work on NV:MP and that it is advised to disable/delete them if you want to play NV:MP.

If you can't find where your Launcher/Client is in order to launch NV:MP go to the following file directory which leads to where Steam installed Fallout New Vegas.
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Fallout New Vegas
in this case C: is your drive where Steam was installed. The drive you installed it on can have a different name/letter.
-The drives could be labeled letters D: through Z:
Also note that you could have installed Steam in C:\Program Files (x86)\ or C:\Program Files\
-Steam should be installed in C:\Program Files (x86)\ though since it allows you to run 32-bit and 64-bit games.

    NVMP_FileLocation.jpg

The first step in resolving your issues is to click on Verify Game Integrity which verifies that your Fallout:NV files are normal.
After that click on Repair which should theoretically fix your launcher.

    NVMP_Client_LoggedIn_Fix.jpg

    Crashing or Can't play?
Again note that most mods do not work on NVMP and it is advised to delete/disable them to get NVMP working.
If you still have problems try a fresh install of FNV. After you re-install the game start up "vanilla" atleast once before attempting to play NVMP.

1.2 Installation: Set-up and Configuration (includes custom .css)

This section will help you configure your Fallout: NV and NV:MP Settings.

We will start out with the Chat Box Configuration for NV:MP
There are a couple of settings for the chat box.

For simply changing the Position and Size open the client.cfg found in your Fallout New Vegas Steam folder.

    NVMP_Settings.jpg

    Make changes accordingly.
    • PositionX and PositionY is the position that the chat box is placed. The exact position for this setting is the bottom left corner of the chat box.
      • Anchor sets the starting position(0,0) of the chat box. Options are below.
        • bl (bottom left)
        • br (bottom right)
        • tl (top left)
        • tr (top right)
    • Width and Height make up the area(size) of the chat box.
More tech savvy people can look at the style.css file located at file directory below. It's HTML related just use google for help with CSS.
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Fallout New Vegas\Data\UI\views

In order to ensure that you can permanently use your custom style.css you must create a duplicate of the current style.css and name the duplicate to whatever you want(*.css). You must also do the same for the main.java. Once that task is completed go into the duplicated main.java and change the <link href="style.css" rel="stylesheet"/> tag to <link href="*.css" rel="stylesheet" />. This links the java file to your custom .css file.
Last head to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Fallout New Vegas\ and edit the client.cfg file changing Document=UI/views/main.java to Document=UI/views/*.java (your duplicated java file). Now you can edit and customize the .css file!

If I remember the anchor setting lets you also set what point of the screen the chat anchors to. So by default it's "bottom left" (bl), so the position 0, 0 is exactly bottom left. You can do "top right" (tr) and the position of the chat will be in relation to the top right point of your monitor if you position is 0, 0. Same goes for "bottom right" (br) and "top left" (tl).

    Good job btw!
