    Hi F&A,

We're introducing the new F&A system on the forums today. This is an official home for factions and alliances. Groups made here will be created by the administration team. Please use this thread as a guide for establishing and moderating groups.

    Creating and Managing a Group
If you have shown enough support for your faction/alliance within this board, the administration team will approach you with the proposal of creating an official group for your faction or alliance. We're looking at potential leaders who have shown that they're mature enough to lead, and have shown dedication to their idea. Do not message administrators requesting groups, we will dismiss all further movement for your group being official if you do.

Establishing a group is a huge responsibility, if you and your officers cannot moderate your sub-forums and members of site staff have to step in, your group may be forcefully disbanded.

Sub-forums and initialisation of groups have to be done by site staff. Once a singular account has been identified as the group owner, an administrator will approach you about creating the official group. You need to supply us with the title of the group.

    Ranks
The owner the top most rank. They can set sub-forum settings, rename the group and moderate every section of the group. The owner is not listed as a rank, but is set to an individual account who is part of the administrator group.

Group administrators have write access to forum descriptions, avatars and can moderate the underlying sub-forums and discussion wall. They can promote/demote users to different ranks. This rank should only be given to people with the highest trust.

Group officers have moderation access to the sub-forums and discussion wall. They can unapprove/soft delete posts and sticky/lock threads.

Group members are the default rank, and can interact with the group like any normal user.

    Group Visibility
Groups can either be public, secret, or private.

Secret forums have all their post content hidden, but their description and avatars are public. They are listed on the groups section as invite only, and users can request to join with a message. Group officers and above can send invites to allow people to directly sign onto the faction/alliance.

Private forums are not publicly visible, and act as secret forums without the announcement of their existence.

Be aware, posting in threads will reveal the thread title and sub-forum in the global NV:MP chat. It's recommended that you don't put sensitive information in titles or sub-forum names.

    Infractions and Probation
All groups are allowed up to a maximum of 3 infractions. The first infraction will count as a warning, a member of staff will take appropriate action to remove rule breaking content. This will serve as a forum warning, and will come with a description of rules broken.

The second infraction is like the first, but your group goes into probation. Probation is where your group will be assessed frequently and checked up by members of staff to make sure the owner is managing appropriately. Regardless if you haven't broken a rule in probation, a member of staff assessing your group can terminate the group if they think there is not progress in rectifying previous issues.

The third (and final infraction) is a group termination. The owner and active members will be released, and further account moderation may be applied to anyone related in the previous incidents.

Manage all group related settings via the cog in the top right. Members can use this to apply their ribbon too.

Rules for group management and moderation
Group administrators and officers must moderate sub-forums accordingly and frequently to make sure their content is in line with the site (and defined group) rules. It is not the website team's active duty to moderate these forums, but we have passive moderation access where we can view all content. Group owners should allocate officers to moderate the boards and discussion areas.

Officers should moderate appropriately, enforcing site rules and group specific rules. If you think an officer is abusing their status, contact the group owner (!!not a member of staff!!). If the issue isn't fixed, report the group and a member of staff will investigate in their own time.

    Rules for Sub-Forums
Having sub-forums in a group is completely optional, but having them means extra management has to be made.
    • Site rules
All rules posted in the announcements section apply in group sub-forums. If website moderators find content that is out of line, we will step in. If a significant amount has passed that we feel the officers of the board is not enforcing these rules, we will issue an infraction.
    • Titles and Descriptions
Only the group creator/owner can modify the sub-forums. Sub forums should directly relate to group activities, ie. not be general purpose discussion boards that NV:MP already has. Boards dedicated to unrelated topics will be removed by members of website staff. Breaking the rules on sub-forum content is an infraction, and can risk temporary suspension until the board is changed.
    • Moderation/Officer Abuse
Group owners are responsible for the actions of officers. If site staff see abuse, corruption or power-play by members of group staff we will step in to ban members from groups directly. Poor management will produce infractions and probation periods for the group owner.
    Ribbons
Group owners can define the ribbon used when members post on NV:MP. Users can click "Claim Ribbon" to use the group ribbon when posting. Ribbons must not:
    • Contain moderator, developer or administrator
    • Be outside the context of the group (an abbreviation or a call sign is OK)

What this means for the F&A board
The board will still exist as a cross-faction talk board. New factions or alliances can be made here and unofficial ones can also use this place to talk. The F&A rules still apply here too.

    Regards,
    NV:MP Team
