Welcome to another history lesson shitpost. Today I'll be discussing what I named my faction after so sit the fuck down and grab yourself some rice crispies.

Back in 1868 Japan was being ruled by the Tokugawa shogunate, the military leader of Japan that had governed the country ever since the Tokugawa clan's victory over all the others during the Sengoku Jidai, or the era of warring clans, over 200 years before that point. Japan had chosen to stay isolated from the world for that entire time, causing it to fall behind dramatically in terms of technology. Like how it happens every time there is a case like this, white people step in to disturb the peace and in this case it was none other than American Commodore Mathew Perry. He wanted the US to have exclusive trade rights with Japan but the weebs said no so Perry fired his cannon over the port to scare them into submission and they caved and Japanese ports were open to trade for the first time in hundreds of years. Peopel new it was time for change in their country after seeing the power of the american vessel, so in a peaceful coup, the power was restored to the emperor Japan. This emperor's name was Emperor Meiji, woopty doo. Pretty soon the supporters of the emperor and the supporters of the old shogun began to butt heads thus starting the Boshin War where, yet again, clans battled until one side was victorious and that side happened to be the emperor. So when peace was yet again restored Japan sent out ambassadors across the world with the sole intention of copying all the things that other countries do best and replicating them in their own country. Example: they copied the german military, the british navy, etc. SOOOOOO Japan then set out to prove themselves as a world power and they invaded China and Korea thus starting a war with Russia over a territory dispute and they won propelling them into the spot of one of the world's biggest powers. And from this point on Japan was powerful and thriving just like everywhere else...ye, restoration
