    Hey my dudes,

    Apologies for the lack of patch notes last week, both me and Gil are busy IRL and have some important project status updates which I'll cover in this thread. We'll jump right into the change logs and then talk about the project direction, including open play status.

    Mod Development
    • Network submodule fast-forward
    • Inventory stability patches
    • Fixed nullptr crash with baseProcess access for inventory poll
    • Fixed concurrency issue with nametags causing random crashes in large player areas
    • Fixed inventories rescheduling invalid form IDs to the server
    • Added external pipboy to item blacklist, was causing crash for surrounding players
    • Work towards fixing missing pipboy issue in large population instances
    • Default spawn is a random selection of locations near or in safe areas around goodsprings
    • GetInventory is a lot faster (using iterators and not GetNthItem)
    • Basic anti-debugger AC on release build
    • Added temporary server DebugSettings::GroupRestriction INI for server instances to block certain forum groups from joining
    • (Experimental) Actor inventory spawning is now handled on game main thread, instead of blocking network thread until completes. Trades cell load time for a lot less network desync, with benefit of involuntary batching
    Free roam:​
    • Fixed double cell reload which reset character to nude
    • Fixed /goodsprings not spawning at the right location
    Networking:​
    • Fixed issue with callback delete not invoking on clients handling remote entity replications
    • Removed average time warning on buffered network variables due to scheduler backlog
    Tests
    Moving on! On Saturday night (time not announced yet) we will be opening the free roam public and closed servers indefinitely. The public server will be capped at 40 players, and the closed (beta key holders) will be 40 too. On this date we will be issuing patch 2.0.0.

    As per usual, if you need help in-game please contact a game master who can assist you if you're stuck or have any general queries.

    Servers & Patreon
    We're still hosting the free roam servers ourselves, and we still hope to look forward to a public server release in the future. To keep our servers online we depend on our Patreon supporters to help keep our hardware bills covered. As long as our server costs are covered, we can keep the servers online for you guys to play!

    Any extra funds go directly into new region servers and and help us add new forum and community functionality, and it allows us to keep our forum software up to date.

    Development & Project Status
    As some of you know this project hasn't just been a walk in the park for me and Gil.

    I started NV:MP in July 2015 as a naive second year student studying games development, with no idea what I'd learn or where this would go. Since then both of us have sank thousands of ours into development, research and ways to make this happen. Multiple times we almost gave up. If it wasn't for the encouragement of our family, friends and forum members we wouldn't have come this far.

    I've spoken to so many amazing people along the way and encountered challenges that I would have never predicted back in 2015.

    This long path I've taken to get this project to where it is today makes this news more hard for me to deliver. I received an offer to work for a great games studio, working in a field I fit best, and it's something I'm completely passionate to do.

    This career movement and next chapter of my life will be something I want to focus primarily on, so my development here at NV:MP is going to come to an end for now. The website, servers and project will stay live and active, but development will significantly be reduced until we appoint (and find) new developers to join our team.

    I will stay active as best as I can in my free time on the forums, helping with moderation and basic logistics. You won't lose me as a user or member of staff.

    Weekly patch notes will turn into release patch notes, where new updates released will be announced as they're delivered. NV:MP won't have as much content to deliver weekly. Bug fixes and small critical updates may not have a thread made instantly as the changes will be discussed in a possible future thread.

    If you are interested in joining the development team, NV:MP is looking for C++ programmers who can:
    • Reverse Engineer FO:NV to add features
    • Integrate multiplayer systems
    • Build gameplay with Lua and work and develop C++ Lua bindings (we use our own flavour of C++ binding)
    ... and stack developers who can
    • Create interactive dashboards and UI for API data

    Ah the error message is just outdated then for invalid it states 'NVMP' or 'FRIEND' alone. Disregard that.

    It's still todo but it's top of the development list. The internals for it is that forum integration needs to be split into the Lua for it to be standalone, so that server owners don't need our forum authentication and such. Because right now its hard built into the server.
